Class IV student raped, killed

BEHRAMPORE: A Class-IV student was raped and murdered allegedly by her neighbour in Farakka on Wednesday. The girl’s father lodged a complaint at Farakka police station and handed over accused Tinku Sheikh, a rickshaw-puller, to the police. The victim’s father said, “Tinku came to our house on Wednesday evening and sent my daughter to get some biris for him to his house.When my daughter didn’t return after an hour, we questioned Tinku and he said that she had left for home after handing him over the biris. Tinku also joined us in the search. We searched Tinku’s house and found my daughter’s salwar under his cot. My daughter’s body was found behind a bush. We handed over Tinku to police.” Police said, “After getting the complaint, we have started an investigation. The accused has been arrested. We suspect the girl was smothered with a pillow.”
